The living room from The Simpsons (FOX, Disney)
Who doesn’t remember watching The Simpsons at half six every Friday night as a child? I genuinely think that the Simpson family living room is imprinted on my mind forever (and ever, amen). The iconic couch gags, the funky colourful rug, and of course the crooked picture of the boat on the wall are all cornerstones of our childhood. As we get older, we tend to look for comfort in things we enjoyed as children, so it makes sense that many of us want to recreate the living room settings that brought us joy in our younger days. In this edition of Furniture for the TV Lover, we’re going to be diving into the animated world created by Matt Groening.
The Sofa
Without argument, the most recognisable piece of furniture in 742 Evergreen Terrace is that classic brown couch. This is really what the rest of the living room is centered around, so if you’re looking to capture that feeling, we have a few recommendations.

For us, however, lighting can really make or break a room.

One final thing we think important to add to this breakdown of cartoon style is the endearing side table. Though we’re not sure rotary phones and lamps made from bottles are still in vogue, a good side table never goes out of style. We think that the Sherbury Grey Oak Side Table is a great modern take on the Simpson style, the muted colour means it can take up residence in just about any home and still fit in.
If that’s not really to your taste, another option is the striking Egyptian Brown Side Table – this one definitely stands out and elevates your style.
Final Thoughts
The real trick with all this isn’t necessarily to match each piece of furniture painstakingly to the taste of Matt Groening, but instead to embrace the whimsy of it all.
